Vegan Postpartum Recipes
Plant-based recovery eating follows the same basic idea as any other postpartum eating plan. You need enough food, enough iron, enough protein, and meals that ask very little of you on tired days. During breastfeeding, B12 needs active attention and iodine is worth checking too, while the food side can still stay simple.

Can I breastfeed on a vegan diet?
Yes. The main nutrition points to watch are B12 and iodine, since both pass into breast milk and are harder to get without animal foods. B12 should come from a supplement or from foods that are fortified enough to count. A doctor or dietitian can help you work out what fits your diet.
Do any vegan foods help with milk supply?
No. Milk supply follows how often milk is removed and how well the baby feeds, and no food has proved that it can raise supply by itself. Oats, flax, brewer's yeast, and many other staples can still be useful because they are filling, familiar, nourishing, and easy to work into regular meals. That is the approach behind these recipes.
How do I keep iron up without meat after birth?
Pulses, tofu, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and dark leafy greens can all help, especially when the same meal includes vitamin C to help your body take up more iron. What matters most is seeing these foods often across the week, rather than hoping one extra-large meal will cover everything. Blood loss during birth can leave iron low, so if you feel more wiped out than newborn life alone would explain, ask to have your levels checked rather than guessing with food.
