First Trimester Meals & Nausea-Friendly Recipes
Small, gentle, ginger-friendly recipes for weeks 1 to 13, when folate does its most critical work and nausea calls the shots. Cold and blended dishes give off less aroma, which genuinely helps.
Common questions
What helps with first trimester nausea?
Small, frequent meals; something plain before you even sit up in the morning; cold or room-temperature food (it gives off less smell); and ginger, which has genuine trial evidence behind it.
Why does folate matter so much in the first trimester?
The neural tube closes in weeks 4 to 6, often before a positive test. Folate from food plus a 400 microgram folic acid supplement is the single best-evidenced nutrition step in pregnancy.
Is my prenatal vitamin enough if I can barely eat?
Short-term, mostly yes - keep the prenatal down, sip fluids, and eat whatever stays put. If eating stays very limited past a few weeks, or you cannot keep fluids down, tell your midwife.
