Greek Yogurt Fertility Bowl
Full-fat dairy, walnuts for omega-3s, pumpkin seeds for zinc and berries for antioxidants - five minutes, no cooking.
A bowl-and-spoon breakfast for the quiet months of getting ready, and one that suits both partners' plates equally. Preconception nutrition runs on a slow clock, which makes an easy, repeatable morning habit worth more than any single heroic meal - this is that habit, dressed up with berries.

Method
- Base. Spoon the Greek yogurt into serving bowls. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over and stir it through with a spoon for about 15 seconds, until the yogurt is evenly flecked and no dry cinnamon sits on the surface.
- Nuts. Scatter the chopped walnuts and the pumpkin seeds over the yogurt, spreading them across the surface so every spoonful gets some. Both are used raw here, straight from the bag, with no toasting needed.
- Chia. Sprinkle the chia seeds over in an even layer. Give the bowls a minute to stand if you like a softer texture - the seeds swell a little and stop scattering off the spoon.
- Finish. Pile the mixed berries on top, letting them tumble across the surface. Drizzle over the honey if you are using it, and serve straight away, while the walnuts and pumpkin seeds are still crisp.

Is this safe when trying to conceive?
Yes - nothing in the bowl carries a caution for people trying to conceive, on either side of the table. For him: the zinc in pumpkin seeds and the fats in walnuts and chia are involved in sperm production, and sperm take roughly three months to mature, so a repeatable breakfast is the right shape of commitment - though trial evidence that supplements change fertility outcomes remains low certainty, so no promises live here. For her: eating patterns in this Mediterranean direction are linked in observational studies to better fertility outcomes.
Substitutions & allergens
- A thick coconut or soy yogurt - removes dairy, though the note's full-fat dairy research is specifically about dairy, so that thread is lost in the swap.
- Extra pumpkin seeds and chia in place of the walnuts - removes nuts and keeps an omega-3 seed in the bowl.
- Skip the honey or use maple syrup - the bowl does not depend on it.
- Any berries work, fresh or frozen and thawed; the color is the point.
Storage & reheating
Nothing is cooked, so this is less about leftover rules and more about assembly. Built-ahead bowls keep chilled within the FSA two-day window, with the chia slowly thickening everything toward a set pudding - some people prefer it that way. It does not freeze and there is nothing to reheat; when you can, assemble fresh and eat straight away.
